Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Windsor Essex Central is excited to announce the inaugural launch of CANstruction®. This is a fun and unique event engaging local schools and businesses to use their talents to design and build giant structures (CANArt®) made entirely out of non-perishable items and compete for awards in the following categories: Best Meal, Structural Integrity, Best Original Design, Most Cans, Best Use of Labels, and People’s Choice awards.

Winners from each local competition then go on to complete internationally in these same categories.

This event is our newest fundraiser, allowing us to serve the less fortunate in our region. The need for our services continues to grow each month.

We hope that we can count on your support to guarantee the success of this 1st annual event. Please see the attached sheet for sponsorship opportunities. Every sponsorship dollar raised goes directly towards our food security program.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has been providing food, clothing, furniture, beds, financial assistance and friendship to those in need in our community since 1896. Last year through our home visits and food banks we helped over 8,000 families a month and through our Street Outreach program we helped provide over 5,400 meals to those experiencing homelessness. We are one of the few organizations in the Windsor Essex area that make home, hospital and nursing home visits. Society of Saint Vincent de Paul serves anyone in need requesting assistance.

Our Board of Directors is made up entirely of unpaid volunteers, who offer their special skills to assist the poor. Since we do not receive Government funding or United Way assistance, we are totally dependent on our members, parishioners, supporters, revenue from our resale stores and proceeds from fundraisers to support all our programming.
